about

FREE CD! This is a set of home recordings I made back in 2006, plus a few recordings from a workshop session in 2005 recorded by Norbert Sarsfield. Playing a fiddle is a constant work-in-progress for me, and this CD definitely captures a moment in time. Some (all?) of the tunes are pretty rough, and I play them differently now (still learning). I should be embarrassed that this is out there, but oh well. A few of the tunes in particular (Green Corn, Remember What You Told Me, and Up Jumped the Devil) are not very true to source but instead represent a phase where I was reinterpreting tunes in a style inspired by other WV fiddlers. (For example, I was trying to play William May's "Remember What You Told Me" as it might have been played by Ward Jarvis, borrowing techniques from his tunes). In any case, please enjoy this CD, if it interests you!

All of these relics tell us a great deal about early humans and their way of life. Their paintings and their sculptures tell us about many of the strange beasts that have since disappeared from the earth.
